Sold '06 C4S and '09 Cayennes S, now have '11 CayenneTT and no 911 ... for now ... reading this brick for a '98 C2S or '97 TT. Great book !! by Doc911in Porsche

[–]xj98jeep 0 points1 point ago

my dad has a '97 TT and we autocross it and do some other driving events. It truly is an amazing machine. With no mufflers and high flow cats it sounds ungodly good and is usually the fastest car on the track at PCA events. If you have the chance to buy one and don't, you'll regret it forever.

Porsche Fans, what type of racing was this body kit used for? by cml1of4in forza

[–]xj98jeep 0 points1 point ago

as far as I can tell, it's just for looks. I race porsches with the PCA IRL and every 930 bodystyle (this generation) either has the huge carrera front end or the regular stock one. I've also searched through a fair number of pictures of them racing in all different types of racing and they follow suit. Either the huge bumper or the stock one.

I think I'm wrong and just missing something because I feel like every porsche body kit has a sort of "purpose" in this game so if anyone knows otherwise I'd be in your debt for this wee bit of porsche knowledge. If we haven't figured it out by the next time I go home the old man will know.

I live at my uni, and I would love to start doing this. I have no idea where to start though. How do you find all these tunnels?

Should i start by going into each building and learning my way around, and through doing that i'll find the tunnels and such?

nicknames are considered hazing as well. Technically greeting a pledge is hazing as hazing is defined (by our university at least) as anything that singles a pledge out or makes them uncomfortable. it's tough not to ever single someone out for anything, even if it's positive.

Maybe in Minneapolis. Here if you get the reputation of doing shit like that no girls will ever come to your parties, and my fraternity as well as my friends all have an unwritten "if you drug a girl's drink, we will kick the living shit out of you" rule. We are a large fraternity that also hazes, e.g. the worst offenders as far as this thread is concerned.

yeah. It's just like Louis C.K. said. Guys will beat you up or whatever else. Girls will shit inside of your heart.

I mean I do agree objectively we shorten a lot of things, why not fraternity. But to me it conveys a lack of respect for the institution, and like I said below (or above, not sure where my other comment is) frat boy has a douchey connotation.

It's because "frat" sounds douchey as fuck. When someone say they're in a frat, I picture them wearing white oakleys and a monster energy t shirt. these are frat bros

These are fraternity men

Maybe. Hazing is defined as anything that singles out a person or makes them uncomfortable. I've heard of fraternities at other schools not being able to give their pledges nicknames because it's hazing.

I consider hazing to be making pledges do something that sucks. And we did a lot of that, to ensure everyone wanted to be a member of our fraternity. And if not, that's cool. Quit, and don't tell anyone our secrets.

You're absolutely correct, no one should die. That only happens when stupidity and a lack of oversight come together. We do some wild shit, but we think about it and if there's any danger we won't do it. We make sure everyone stays hydrated, doesn't get deadly drunk, and so on.

We also do a lot of philanthropy either through community service work weekends or donating money, the greek system here specifically runs SGA so they (I say they because I'm not a member of student government) keep the campus running smoothly.

The main "thing" about fraternities is networking. an alumni from my fraternity knows I'm at least somewhat good people because I made it into the fraternity. It's exclusive, that's the point. I've made plenty of friends outside of the fraternity, but the fraternity is a group of guaranteed like minded people, that's why i chose the one I did.

There's a lot more to it than that but yes, that is one facet of a fraternity.

a frat (I call it a frat to piss off frat boys, they prefer fraternity for some odd reason)

we don't like it because it's demeaning and sounds stupid and unprofessional. Is that that odd of a reason?

friendships that cannot be replicated. I've made plenty of friends normally, but my pledge brothers and I share a bond that not many do.

We also get an 8000 square foot house we can throw 200+ person parties at without fear of legal repercussions, cooks for all three meals that make fucking great food, a cleaning crew to clean up after our parties, our pledges have to take turns DDing so guaranteed DDs every night, and I'm sure there's more but I'm tired of typing. That's where our money goes, not to the members to pay them for being our friends.

exactly. True Fraternity systems ARE built on hazing, because it brings you together like nothing truly else can. I've seen my pledge brothers at their absolute lowest, and vice versa. I'm closer with my pledge brothers than anyone else, simply because of everything we went through. not because they paid, or I'm supposed to. We went through some shit together. We grouped together to make it through the adversity, and are now much better people because of it. There is a noticeable change in the pledges (for the better) pre and post hazing.

I know you're getting shitting on but I am inclined to agree. While the story is fucked up, they could have said fuck that I'm out (much like the OP of the story). I mean it's shitty they were in that situation but take some goddamn ownership of your life.

I go to alabama, so I know exactly how crazy it can get. Been there, done that. Nationals is the least of our worries. We went by our chapter letters for awhile because we have a hate-hate relationship with nationals. It's the school you have to worry about.

we "bump" at swaps (mixers) where our pledges walk backwards until they bump into a sorority pledge and then our pledges do something crass like motorboat them. Then you both go to the party, and either keep talking or go separate ways. Even if we enacted a rule saying "all pledges who bump have to have sex" all the brothers are too busy having a good time to enforce shit like that. We're still humans.

It sounds like someone took bumping and rumor-milled the shit out of it.

Sororities are EXTREMELY concerned with their reputation. I know of girls who were dropped from alright sorororites for having low GPAs, not to mention the ones that recieved das boot for acting like whores or being drunkasses. So I find it a bit hard to believe an entire sorority would be down to do something like that.

Not to mention a fair amount of pledges drop when we tell them there's a uniform they have to wear and house hours, so if people are willing to quit knowing that at arguably one of the most greek schools in the nation I don't think a lot of people would stick around for that shit.

And a fair number of people have asked where and when with no response.

I go to Alabama so we're under pretty close scrutiny from the university. Like this thread, the slightest amount of rumor gets snowballed into "yeah they fucking kill one pledge every year" and then the university acts on it. and a large part of our rituals is about keeping the group secrets, so telling anyone how we haze is largely frowned upon. Granted we are all in college now so it's a bit different.

I read somewhere that even if every household reduced their waste output to 0 it would only reduce the total waste output by 3%. I can't find the source though. Does anyone know if that's legit? and/or where i read that?

no serious fraternity or sorority is going to tell many people their hazing/intitiation rites, and I really doubt it's going to end up on reddit. ITT:hearsay and news articles. and people who call their fraternities "frats."
