The idea that all pure bred dogs are somehow inherently inflicted with defects is a pretty silly argument, given the love, attention and pride with which the majority of serious dog breeders do their work. I see Staffordshire Bull Terriers mentioned above, so I will focus on that for a second... For a dog that has these inherent qualities, and do not have any of the bizarre defects that Pugs (respiratory) or German Shepherds (flexion) have, I have little hope for the broad brush of 'breedism' to get anywhere.

Face it, people love specific traits in dogs, from the boating Belgian Schipperke to the blind-leading Labrador Retriever, some dog owners appreciate specificity in their pets/service animals, whilst abhoring the practices of unscrupulous breeders and owners. The two are not mutually exclusive. To sideline these people with this kind of ad shows the shallow thinking of this organisation. That's another reason why PETA still has such a low public image, compared to the RSPCA.
