Normal full-spectrum ones will do fine up to a point, and if all you are doing is seedlings, you should be ok. If you are planning on going all the way through to fruiting, consider switching to warmer (2700K) lights during that phase of growth. I only do seedlings this way, so ymmv.

catinahat1 on What is happening to this tree?

[Burls](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burl) form when the tree is injured, in a number of ways.

catinahat1 on N-Station Dock ($54.99) available for pre-order March 1-15.

Dear lord, that is ugly

catinahat1 on Best option for dealing with grass under a raised bed?

Most newspaper inks these days are soy based

catinahat1 on Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Such interesting plants... a real challenge. Good luck to ya :) As to the shape in your picture... they want to collapse onto themselves the whole time, which leads to a lot of dead debris low down, which isn't ideal for succulents. Hence the staking/shaping.

catinahat1 on Dense ball of living pine tree...wtf?

Looks like you're right http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch's_broom

catinahat1 on This dude likes microphones and hates drugs.

Mike's what?

catinahat1 on High density corn planting?

The three sisters thing worked for me a couple of years ago... towards the end of the season the beans swamped the corn, but by that time the corn was harvested, and were good as props only. Winter interest plants are going to be the toughest. At least you can do things to attract birds in winter, which everyone loves. In summer it's easy... Anything that fruits or flowers will do the trick. Two more winter plants that do great in England, are [Red bark Dogwood](http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/8788.shtml) and [Pyracantha](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyracantha), although I have to warn that the latter has woody thorns, so you might want to plant that away from the path. They do do great in [espalier](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espalier) form though, so it wont take too much space. Edit. Just reading a bit more about it, there seems to be one of the Pyracantha family that is thornless, called a [Cotoneaster](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotoneaster). I do not have any experience with it, however.

catinahat1 on Sensory garden help

That was actually Mimosa Pudica, which you can grow from seed.

catinahat1 on Sensory garden help

If you're looking for an amazing smelling, winter-blooming, evergreen shrub, check out [Daphne Odora](http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54758/), also known as Winter Daphne

catinahat1 on Sensory garden help

I don't get it...
