I don't know the details of this law. It'll most likely be someone complaining about being fired from his job or prevented from entering a shop, bar, or whatever.

In the same way that it was introduced in other countries? At some point after this legislation is introduced, someone is going to file a lawsuit and bring this issue into the spotlight. Then, hopefully, when people see it on the evening news, it helps to (gradually) change their minds on discrimination.

Why not? You can empathize with fictional characters because you assign feelings to them. Inanimate objects are no different in that respect. All that is required is that a person assigns feelings to an entity, whether they are real or not doesn't really matter.
