"There is absolutely no homophobia in my school" by FreedomRequiresWingsin gay

[–]CresendoCrook 1 point2 points ago

I think its important to consider how "homophobia" manifests itself in high school settings. Its often not about sexual orientation, and what we consider "homophobia" is more likely the result of societal structures that dictate people's behavior. I don't like to use the word "homophobia" because it is too simplistic, and implies arbitrary hatred.

I would recommend Dude, You're a Fag by C.J. Pascoe She explains the main concept in this interview

If you're feeling particularly scholarly and aggressive, also take a look at Homophobias: Lust and Loathing across Time and Space, edited by David Murray

What is it about “the homosexual” that incites vitriolic rhetoric and violence around the world? How and why do some people hate queers? Does homophobia operate differently across social, political, and economic terrains? What are the ambivalences in homophobic discourses that can be exploited to undermine its hegemonic privilege? This volume addresses these questions through critical interrogations of sites where homophobic discourses are produced. It provides innovative analytical insights that expose the complex and intersecting cultural, political, and economic forces contributing to the development of new forms of homophobia. And it is a call to action for anthropologists and other social scientists to examine more carefully the politics, histories, and contexts of places and people who profess hatred for queerness. The contributors to this volume open up the scope of inquiry into processes of homophobia, moving the analysis of a particular form of “hate” into new, wider sociocultural and political fields. The ongoing production of homophobic discourses is carefully analyzed in diverse sites including New York City, Australia, the Caribbean, Greece, India, and Indonesia, as well as American Christian churches, in order to uncover the complex operational processes of homophobias and their intimate relationships to nationalism, sexism, racism, class, and colonialism. The contributors also critically inquire into the limitations of the term homophobia and interrogate its utility as a cross-cultural designation.

Know of any articles written by experts that discuss flirting body-language for men? by CresendoCrookin AskReddit

Peer-Reviewed articles would be great, I'm just thinking that they might be very specific to one particular topic. I'm essentially looking for dating tips, but the student inside of me wants to make sure I have good sources.

Student drank urine after DEA left him in cell 5 days with no food, water, for smoking pot by johnnr2in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

unfairly framing it really detracts from the issues of the case and makes anyone concerned with this sort of thing look dishonest.

That's what I was getting at. You guys are preaching to the choir, reminds me of what happened to Adrian Schoolcraft (This is a great read!)

Cop wears a wire on the job for 2 years, documents 13 violations of the law in the behavior of the department on a day-to-day basis. When he tried to go through the proper channels to have it addressed, he was arrested in his home, treated as an emotionally distressed person, and handcuffed to a gurney for nearly 24 hours in a dimly lit hallway.

He was in a room where there were mushrooms, Ecstasy, Prescription meds, and pot. This story isn't really about marijuana as much as it is about the justice system, I feel like your title frames it in a misleading way.

Album art for a friend. Mixin things up with some computer illustration. by CresendoCrookin bakedart

Yeah, I had originally planned to include the typography in the main sphere, but that idea sort of took off in its own direction.

This is definitely something I'll revisit. I'd like to try and incorporate it in the main illustration, but I'll have to try some things so I don't detract too much.

We can rest easy knowing that the sources they cite are nearly 20 years old. The main article about homosexual feelings developing is excerpted from "The Complex Interaction of Genes and Environment: A Model for Homosexuality" by Jeffrey Satinover,M.D.

This article was published in 1995. Jeffrey Satinover is well known for his involvement in the ex-gay movement. It is noteworthy to include that just a year after this article was published, he had a book entitled "Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth" which took a harsh stance on homosexuality, and was published by Baker Books, an evangelical Christian publishing house. In this book, he frequently talks about human sexuality in a biblical context, and concludes that

"the debate over homosexual behavior and its implications for public policy can only be decided on moral grounds, and moral grounds will ultimately mean religious grounds

In closing, this guy is a clown, why is he a medical doctor?
